Springsteen heeft donderdag 16 februari met de E Street Band in het Moody Center in Austin opgetreden. Nils Lofgren was voldoende hersteld van corna om zijn opwachting te kunnen maken, maar deze keer was Jake Clemons afwezig vanwege het virus. Het publiek kreeg een tourpremière in de vorm van ‘Cadillac Ranch’.
Austin is de stad van de countrymuziek en dus werd Bruce het podium op begeleid door George Strait, de “king of country”. Hij introduceerde Bruce en de band (waar ook Patti Scialfa weer ontbrak), voordat ze met ‘No Surrender’ openden.
Eddie Manion nam de saxofoonsolo’s van Jake waar. Over Jakes afwezigheid zei Bruce tegen het publiek: “Jake is back at the Four Seasons with Covid, eating cheeseburgers and watching pornographic movies.” Na het debuut twee dagen eerder in Houston werd ‘If I Was the Priest’ ook in Austin herhaald. ‘Don’t Play that Song’ viel van de setlist af. De toegiften opende Bruce met ‘Cadillac Ranch’. Hij leidde het nummer in met een korte speech over de voedselbank van Texas.
